Thank you for taking the time to evaluate this demonstration version of SE/One, the COBOL program analysis tool. SE/One can be used for maintenance or conversions of older programs as well as for quality assurance for new development. One of the features of SE/One is something that will interest you -- if not today, then soon. The D-RAY feature allows you to identify all declarations or uses of fields that are date-related. It does not automatically rewrite your programs or files, but it does show you where you probably need to make changes to allow for 4-digit years. SE/One has much more to it than that. SE/One gives you a quick way to see what will be affected by planned changes. It does reports of metrics, subroutine hierarchy, procedure division structure, copy books used, sub-programs called, etc. It will flag COBOL coding that is unsafe, non-portable, or in violation of your site standards. It also allows interactive, point-and-click analysis of logic flow, data usage, I/O operations, CICS activity, etc. This SE/One demonstration version will allow you to analyze the pre-indexed COBOL program which is included. All of the features of the full SE/One tool are included, with one exception. In this demonstration, you do not have the ability to index your own programs to perform analysis on them. Naturally, the actual SE/One program will allow you to fully analyze your own COBOL programs -- giving you a clear view. This demo may be copied to an empty directory on your hard drive or run off the floppy. Double click on SE1DEMO.EXE to run. You may make copies and share this demonstration version of SE/One, PROVIDED THAT ALL FILES ARE COPIED AS IS, UNMODIFIED. --- Patricia Mills, President --- Software Eclectics, Inc. --- 800-457-3113 voice --- 404-667-9417 Fax
